Hey,
As I was writing for my match, I thought about how random the entire match seemed...and the one the week before...the before that...you get the idea. It seems most of the matches on the cards are created on a random basis and there is no buildup to anything. There is little to no off card role play, little to no character interaction beyond just doing matches week after week.
So I think we need to put some "off card rp" time into the fed. And to get people motivated to post, we can either go and have those who post during off card RP as the guys in the main event/upper card matches, or just not book those who dont post off card at all. Have there be a requirement of at least one or maybe two off card posts a week.
Now, I know the reason our card (well not know, but think), is that most of us are busy with other things and 2-3 card days wouldnt be enough to get anything going. Thats why, maybe, we can do alternate weeks, one week is off card tp and the next week is card and so on.
This can actually allow the matches to be booked not randomly, but depending on the off card rp and storylines. And the match results will affect the storylines and have meaning, something I feel is missing. Outside of having a title match, it seems whether you win or lose doesnt really matter here cause youll just have another random match the next week. Its also hard to develop character and story strictly through ring work only.
The main reason I dont like Gfeds was that all of the feds seem to focus ONLY on off card roleplay, with nothing in ring done at all. It seems to be the opposite case here...we're all only doing match RP for the most part and very little of anything else. I think a good way to go would be to leave some time for people to do just general roleplays, build storylines etc.
My second idea is that there is no requirement here to do match finishes. This makes matches even more meaningless because a loss or a win doesnt affect anything since its pretty much never recorded on the actual RP board. What I think we need is to use part of the alternate week to have people write match finishes and build from there. We could have a policy that was in effect back in the old Ring Wars days where if you didnt write a match ending, the other guy would win.
Then, if we have a week between cards, that is filled with "wrapping up", the matches from the card of the previous week, combined with off card roleplay, we might actually have enough material to book meaningful cards that are based on things that are going on in the fed and with the characters. As of now, its just random matches week after week.
Well, I am not a efed genius, but just throwing an idea out...

i know some people cant post all the time myself included but Jaq is on to some thing here. I'll talk with Mr. Raven about this more.

I really like this idea for the structure of roleplaying in the fed. I fully support it. Good ideas, Fureau.

Another thing that Fureau and I discussed online was that it seems the gimmicks attached to matches have little meaning. Obviously it's hard on the staff to come up with great gimmicks every week for every match - but why do they have to? In wrestling, traditionally gimmicks have come at the end of big feuds and have represented the primary characteristic of that feud. Ladder matches happen when something hangs in the balance, like a belt or a contract. Cage matches happen when the bad guy has kept escaping the good guy's wrath. Inferno matches happen when the violence in the feud has escalated to include one guy trying to burn the other. Starting a feud with an inferno match leaves little room to grow to a bigger, more violent contest further on.
This is partly a stylistic thing, though, and I understand that different fed owners like to run things in different ways, and some want their fed to have straight wrestling matches as much as possible, and some want them to have wild and violent matches every bout, and I can easily live with either. I just thought it worth bringing up, since we're making suggestions.

Yes I like this also...And I was kind of thinking of the same thing but I couldn't get it out...and on the way home from Emily's house I was thinking like when Lil Money had the heavyweight belt Lil Money should of use his rematch clause to try and get his belt back and keep a feud going...and I have good story-lines and stuff for people here to build a feud on...

I am also thinking maybe we should track wins and losses and have a seperate stickied thread with the entire roster and each person's win/loss record.

Outside of myself and Johns battles and what we write and the occasional post here and there nothing else really happens on the boards.
PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong but the last running gimmic and storyline this fed had seen was when I stole Ice from Sweet Money and we got married....and then that match meant something!

If I recall correctly, that match happened the day I joined the fed. It definitely has been too long since we had some real stories rolling. I had a feud with DreamKiller, though, which involved the occasional off-card post where I would try to protect myself from his murderous rampages and he would brush aside any and all measures I had taken just to slash me up again. I like to think once we met in the ring our matches meant something too (something other than we were booked together), but in general, there haven't been many stories going on, I agree.
And here I am trying to do a story on the roleplaying board and the staff are blithely ignoring what's happening and reporting something else. It's a shame, because here is a situation where someone can come out and do some roleplaying and still end up with the result they want, whilst adding a little heat and activity at the same time, but instead it's just x happens in a post but y happens in an announcement.
